Calculating the number of days between two dates is useful for project planning, tracking deadlines, or counting down to events. The formula is straightforward: subtract the earlier date from the later date and convert the difference from milliseconds to days.
This tool handles the math for you. Select a start date and end date, and it instantly shows the total calendar days, a breakdown in weeks and days, and the number of business days (excluding Saturdays and Sundays).
Calendar days include every day of the week -- weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Business days (also called working days) typically exclude Saturdays and Sundays. Some calculations also exclude public holidays, but since holidays vary by country and region, this tool focuses on the universal definition: Monday through Friday.
When calculating deadlines for contracts, shipping estimates, or legal filings, knowing the distinction matters. A "30 business day" deadline is significantly longer than a "30 calendar day" deadline -- roughly 6 weeks versus about 4 weeks.
A live countdown creates a visual sense of urgency and anticipation. Whether you are counting down to a product launch, a vacation, a wedding, a deadline, or a personal milestone, seeing the days, hours, minutes, and seconds tick away helps keep your goal front and center.
This countdown timer runs entirely in your browser. You can share a countdown link with anyone -- the target date is encoded in the URL, so no server or account is needed. The link works for anyone who opens it, showing the countdown in their local time zone.
Does it count business days? Yes. The Date Calculator tab shows both calendar days and business days between any two dates. Business days exclude Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not excluded since they vary by country.
Can I share my countdown? Yes. Click the Share Link button to generate a URL containing your event name and target date. Anyone who opens the link sees the same live countdown. No account or server is required.
Does it account for time zones? The countdown uses your browser's local time zone. When you share a link, the recipient sees the countdown relative to their own time zone. The absolute target moment (the date and time you set) remains the same.
