Quick Checklist

Add items, check them off, drag to reorder. Saves in your browser.

    Why Use a Browser-Based Checklist?

Most checklist and to-do apps require an account, sync to cloud servers, and load slowly. Quick Checklist is different: it runs entirely in your browser, stores everything in localStorage on your device, and loads instantly. There is no signup, no login screen, and nothing leaves your computer. If you just need a simple list to track tasks, groceries, or project steps, this is the fastest way to get started.

Checklist vs Todo App — When Simple Wins

Full-featured todo apps are useful when you need due dates, subtasks, labels, recurring tasks, and team collaboration. But most of the time, you just need a plain list of items you can check off. The overhead of complex apps — creating accounts, managing settings, navigating menus — slows you down when the task is simple. A browser-based checklist gives you exactly what you need: add items, check them off, reorder if needed, and move on.

    How to Use Checklists Effectively

    1. Create a new list by clicking "New list" and giving it a descriptive name, such as "Weekly groceries" or "Launch prep."
    2. Add items by typing in the input field and pressing Enter. Keep items specific and actionable.
    3. Check off items as you complete them. Use the filter to show only active or completed items.
    4. Drag items to reorder your priorities. The most important tasks should be at the top.

    Where is my data stored?

Your checklists are stored in your browser's localStorage. This is a small database built into every modern browser that keeps data on your device. Your lists are never uploaded to any server. The trade-off is that your data is tied to this browser on this device. If you clear your browser data or switch browsers, your lists will not carry over. Use the "Copy as text" button to back up anything important.

    Can I export my list?

Yes. Click the "Copy as text" button to copy your current checklist to the clipboard in a plain text format. Checked items appear with [x] and unchecked items with [ ]. You can paste this into an email, note, or document.

Will my list survive clearing browser data?

No. localStorage is cleared when you clear your browser's cookies and site data. This tool does not use any server-side storage, so there is no way to recover a deleted list. If a list is important, copy it as text and save it somewhere else as a backup.
